Our DIY guides are written for anyone who wants to create seasonal decoration at home, regardless of experience. We focus on clear steps, simple materials and results you can reuse year after year. Based in London, we tailor ideas to what is readily available in the UK—supermarkets, garden centres and craft shops—so you do not need to hunt for specialist supplies. We believe that handmade decoration adds a personal touch and can be more sustainable than buying new each season. Many of our projects use natural materials such as dried fruit, foliage, branches and fabric that store well and last for several years. We also offer rental and styling services if you prefer to mix DIY with ready-made pieces or need help with installation. The guides on this page and across the site are free to use; get in touch if you would like personalised advice or a quote for our services.
Step-by-Step: Dried Orange Garland
A dried orange garland is a classic seasonal project that works for Christmas, autumn and winter. The oranges add colour and a subtle scent, and the garland can be hung on a mantel, window or wall and stored for reuse. You need only oranges, twine or ribbon, and an oven. Slice the oranges thinly, pat them dry and bake on a low heat for two to three hours until dried. Let the slices cool, then thread them onto twine or ribbon with gaps between each slice. You can add dried bay leaves, cinnamon sticks or pinecones between the orange slices for extra texture. Hang the garland in a dry place and store it in a breathable bag after the season. The same technique works with other citrus or small fruits. Below you will find the full step-by-step and links to more craft ideas by season. For ready-made garlands and other rental items, see our Prices page.

1 Slice oranges thinly and pat dry. Bake on a low heat (about 100°C) for 2–3 hours until dried.
2 Let the slices cool. Thread them onto twine or ribbon with gaps between each slice.
3 Add dried bay leaves, cinnamon sticks or pinecones between orange slices if you like.
4 Hang on a mantel, window or wall. Store in a dry place for use next year.
Craft Ideas by Season
Craft ideas can be grouped by season so you can plan projects throughout the year. Winter and Christmas bring garlands, wreaths and advent displays; spring and Easter suit egg decorations and spring wreaths; autumn and Halloween suggest pumpkin carving and leaf garlands. Summer calls for garden markers and lanterns; events call for centrepieces and place cards. All-year projects include vases, candles and storage solutions that support your seasonal decoration. The cards below link to our main occasion pages where you will find more detailed ideas and step-by-step guides. Mix and match projects to build a collection that fits your style and the amount of time you have. If you prefer not to make everything yourself, we offer rental and styling services so you can combine DIY with ready-made pieces.
